Wakabayashi is a quiet residential area located roughly in the center of Setagaya. Kannana-dori Avenue passes in a north-south direction next to the station. The only rail crossing on the avenue is the Wakabayashi Crossing. The Wakabayashi central shopping street in front of the station has a somewhat nostalgic feel. It comes alive with neighborhood children during the Tanabata Festival and rice cake-pounding events.
Wakabayashi has the only rail crossing on Kannana-dori Avenue. Traffic is stopped with a traffic signal rather than a crossing gate. Like the cars, Setagaya Line trains diligently stop and wait for the signal to change before proceeding. It is a gentle scene typical of Setagaya and visitors can see it here.
